Lola is a Springer cross Spaniel who I looked after while her mum and dad got married. We had 2 fun walks and then I got to see her go crazy in the garden while she waited for her dinner

This weekend I attended a canine first aid course, it covered what to do with a variety of different emergencies.
We started with the different types of burns including electrical and chemical, then there was what to do if a dog is choking and the different ways of dealing with this.
Then there was the different types of cuts including hemorrhaging and how to bandage the dog to slow down the bleeding while you get to the vets.
There was the different ways of telling if your dog was dehydrated, suffering heat stroke or shock and what you should do.
It finished with CPR which included us practicing on a dummy dog where you could not only do mouth to mouth (or nose in some cases) resuscitation but you could learn how to check a dogs pulse on this as well.
It was a very interesting day and I now feel more prepared if something was to happen while I am out and about, including obvious things like having all local vets numbers saved into your phone and carrying a dog first aid kit which I will now have whenever I'm out walking a dog.

This week I've been visiting and walking Dougal and Oliver. I've known both dogs for a few years now since Dougal was in the same puppy class as Riley at Felixstowe dog traing club and we often end up at the same fun dog shows.
Dougal is a very friendly Labradoodle and walking him was good fun. Oliver is a Golden Retriever who has always come across as very calm and laid back, I now know at walk time he gets just as excited as Dougal and loves to play ball and have a cuddle.
Both dogs were so good to walk I can't wait to take them out again

This weekend I got my first client in Jasper a lovely Staffy x American Bulldog, his dad was going to watch football so I was visiting him to make sure he wasn't lonely during the day.
Jasper is incredibly friendly and very excitable, he greets you like he has known you for years even if you are meeting him for the first time. He also has the hardest head possible as I found out when he jumped up and hit me in the face, thanks Jasper
Look forward to visiting him again.

Even in my spare time I like to spend all my time with dogs, so today I went to the Framlingham country fair with a group of friends and their dogs.
There was a lot of activities for dog's to take part in and we had a couple of goes at the agility, the first go was a bit of a disaster as Riley was more interested in the cake that was being eaten but she had another go later and proved that her training classes aren't being wasted.
There was also a fun dog show to take part in and Riley managed to come 4th in judges favourite dog and got a nice rosette. It was a very enjoyable day with lovely weather and all the dogs had a great time meeting up with all the other dogs.
Riley is now very tired and sleeping soundly, she didn't even want to go out for her evening walk so a lazy evening for me

I've always loved dogs so when I found out that I would be losing my job starting up my own dog walking business seemed obvious. After spending a couple of weeks trying to come up with a name which is a lot harder than I thought a friend suggested Waggy Walks and everybody I asked liked it so that's what I went with.
I do keep getting moaned at for not having any photo's up of myself which is because I always take a terrible photo, but I'm joing in the selfie craze here with one with Riley my Old English Sheepdog. Don't worry I don't normally look this mad
